Shilpa is passionate about exploring natural landscapes and cultures. She has climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Mt. Everest Basecamp in Nepal, and hiked Torres del Paine in Patagonia. She continues to be amazed by all that nature has to offer to us irrespective of age, gender, race or ethnicity.

Dr. Shilpa Tiwari is an executive with fifteen years of experience building, growing and managing sustainability, corporate citizenship, diversity and inclusion initiatives in complex organizations. Having worked in financial services, mining, oil and gas, forestry and energy, she is an industry agnostic, versatile and entrepreneurial. She has a strong business acumen combined with a great sense of curiosity and empathy. Shilpa has worked and lived in Africa, Asia, North America, Latin America and the Caribbean. She has a bachelor’s in biology, master’s in environmental policy and a doctorate in social anthropology.

The founder and CEO of Her Climb, a social enterprise with the mission to increase the participation of black, indigenous, women of colour in senior and executive level positions in corporations and organizations across Canada. Previous experience include: Head of Sustainability and Corporate Citizenship at a global insurance company, Vice President at one of Canada’s largest pension funds; and President of its Foundation, management consultant working with corporations to develop impactful and sustainability strategy’s and community investment programs, which have demonstrably increased brand awareness and consideration; developing and leading a new business area for one of Canadian largest engineering firms, and a social scientist for an environmental management consulting firm helping global corporations understand social and environmental impacts of their operations and actions to mitigate and manage impacts.
